Dr. Kathleen McGrogan is certified in many evidence based psychotherapy practices. She specializes in treating and training clinicians and allied health care professionals, interns, physician residents, as well as older adults. She also has extensive experience in parenting education for families with youth at risk; she has received special training in Interpersonal Neurobiology and after many years facilitating groups, has trained volunteers and clinicians in Bereavement counseling, and Mindfulness Meditation. 

She enjoys working with adults at life transition points such as college, marriage, parenthood, retirement, empty nest or career changes. In her own path to grow her family, she has journeyed alongside other families through pregnancy loss, infertility, adoption and motherhood.  She has partnered well with individuals facing chronic and terminal health conditions including cancer and renal disease as well as with amputees adjustment to life after loss of limb.  

In addition to psychotherapy, Dr. McGrogan offers cognitive screening, ADHD screening and assessments as well as immigration evaluations.

After her long career at the LA County Department of Mental Health, She established her independent practice in Hermosa Beach. She offers sliding scale fees to those who might not otherwise be able to afford the services of an experienced professional.

Dr. McGrogan continues to attend workshops and conferences to learn best practices to affirm and support the LGBTQIA2s+ community. She is a lifelong student/ learner of world religions and cultures and enjoys integrating her client’s spirituality, faith and culture into their work together.

She enjoys a regular practice of yoga and meditation to keep her grounded.  As an organizer and planner,with a friendly personality, some of her favorite roles are block party captain, kitchen lead at a variety of community fund raisers, catechist and neighbor.
